Beth Am Temple Hosts Family-Friendly Social Action Shabbat
Beth Am Temple will welcome guest speakers from the Rockland Interfaith Social Action Network (RISA) at the Social Action Shabbat. The family-friendly service will start at 10:15 am with RISA members Gina Danialinia, Synodical Deacon of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Pearl River, and Rubina Farooq and Hibba Fatima of the Islamic Center of Rockland in Valley Cottage. They will speak about RISA and volunteer projects open to religious school students and congregation and community members. Attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items for donation. Kosher food products will be delivered to the Rhoda Bloom Kosher Food Pantry in West Nyack and non-kosher food items will be brought to the People to People Food Pantry in Nanuet.
Beth Am’s Social Action Committee will host a complementary light Kiddush lunch immediately following the service. The public is welcome to attend the service and lunch.
The Social Action Committee performs mitzvot (good deeds) for the benefit and improvement of the larger Rockland community. Its members actively assist immigrants and others lacking sufficient food and clothing.
Beth Am Temple is a reform temple, which embraces tradition and draws its congregation from throughout Rockland County, NY and northern Bergen County, NJ.
