Breaking Cycles of Harm & Incarceration for Young New Yorkers
To celebrate our 100th anniversary and to celebrate you—the incredible communities we’ve partnered with over the past 100 years—The New York Community Trust is thrilled to invite you to a panel discussion in the Bronx about standing up for the rights of young New Yorkers.
Our justice system disproportionately incarcerates people of color, contributing to racial inequities and perpetuating cycles of trauma and harm in our communities.
The Trust has a history of standing up for equity and fairness, particularly for those affected by the city’s justice system. We played a pivotal role in raising the age at which young people could be prosecuted as adults in New York State and expanding programs that engage young people in activism, advocacy, and building promising futures.
Join us for a conversation with nonprofit and community leaders on how best to support young people with—or at risk of—justice involvement, while also continuing to advance systemic change.
A festive reception will follow, with light bites, drinks, and the opportunity to share your vision for our region’s next century. There will also be a performance by Bobby Sanabria & Quarteto Aché featuring Antoinette Montague!
This venue is wheelchair accessible and ASL interpretation will be provided. To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please contact Liz Uddyback at euddyback@thenytrust.org.
