The Murals: The Story of The Uptown Post Office Murals and Sullivan, Sandburg, Poor. To commemorate the birthday of Rockland artist Henry Varnum Poor, Rockland Center for the Arts (RoCA) and the Historical Society of Rockland County (HRSC) have scheduled screenings of the new documentary film entitled, The Murals. The screenings will take place on Saturday, September 30, at 2pm, at the HSRC, and at 7pm at RoCA. Each screening will be followed by a panel discussion with the filmmaker, TJ Jamroz. The Murals is the new documentary about the New Deal era Uptown Post Office murals in Chicago. The film explores how and why they were made by Henry Varnum Poor, why they feature Carl Sandburg and Louis Sullivan, and how they inspire today.
