Great Neck Library Lecture: Contemporary Persian Art Lecture presented by Val Franco

In celebration of Nowruz, Great Neck Library is having a lecture on Contemporary Persian Art presented by Val Franco at the Station Library at 26 Great Neck Road, Great Neck, NY 11021, on Monday, March 24, at 11:00 a.m.

Valerie Franco, known on social media as ProfValFranco, has written and spoken on film and art on film on academic panels and in colleges throughout the US and Europe, including the Italian Cultural Institute, Queens College, Fordham University, Hadassah, Sarah Lawrence College, Cerritos College in Los Angeles, the Nottingham Cultural Exchange in England, and the Universities of Salerno and Calabria in Italy. She has been a Featured Lecturer at the FIERI National Convention, the Sarasota Italian Cultural Event in Florida, and the Accademia di Belle Arti in Reggio Calabria.

Professor Franco’s research has been published in academic journals, and her awards and grants include the Filmmakers’ Champagne Award from Eastman Kodak, the international Rotary Club’s Scambio Culturale for Distinguished Professionals, and the National Italian American Foundation-sponsored Graduates to Leaders Conference.

She has been interviewed for print & broadcast outlets here in the US and throughout Italy and has presented her research at international conferences, including the Italian American Historical Association’s Southern Exposures Conference in Baton Rouge, Southern Connecticut State University’s Analyzing the Text Conference in New Haven, and the University of Southern Florida’s Southeast Conference on Foreign Languages, Literature, and Film in Tampa.

A Hutton House lecturer on cinema & the visual arts at LIU/Post, she currently hosts a weekly podcast on film and art. In addition to running trips to tri-state museums & galleries, she continues to curate annual tours to Italy & Europe focused on food, wine, museums, and UNESCO World Heritage sites.
