Ever wonder what a Supreme Court justice, a major film studio, and one of the nation’s most historic parks have in common? They all share a rich history along the Westchester coast, and Playland is bringing these stories to life with a brand-new local ferry tour to Mamaroneck along Westchester’s Sound Shore.

Join trusty tour guide Barbara Davis – Co-Director of the Westchester County Historical Society, City Historian for New Rochelle, and former proprietor of “Waterfront Tours” – on an hour-long voyage through the past, complete with local lore involving the childhood home of John Jay, the first chief justice of the Supreme Court and one of America’s earliest film studios owned by D.W. Griffith. Enjoy cool breezes and panoramic views of the Long Island Sound while “sailing” through various eras of Westchester history, from colonial mills and the hiding places of whale boatmen to extant yacht clubs, elegant Gilded Age mansions, the earliest suburbs in the country, and more.

Operated by NY Waterway, the roundtrip tours will depart from Playland Pier at 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm on each day (boarding begins 15 minutes before).

Playland’s usual ferry transportation service from New York City will also be available on both dates, making stops at East 34th and 90th Streets in Manhattan and Ferry Point in the Bronx before arriving at Playland.
